General Information

• Beds/Procedural Areas: 2 Cath Labs; 2 Hybrid Peripheral/OR
• Travelers must live 100+ miles from the facility.
• Permanent staff must wait 1 full year before returning as a traveler.

Patient Types

Traveler will be a member of the Stroke Team. ICU experience is required for the RN position.

RN: 1:1

Required Certifications

• RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Required Education

Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing. Registered Nurse (RN) — South Dakota Board of Nursing.

Required Skills

• ICU experience is a MUST — position will be a member of the Neuro IR Stroke Team
• Endotracheal ventilation, including basic management and understanding of ventilators
• Tracheostomy patients, including ventilation through stoma
• Vasoactive and sedation drips
• Safe use of paralytics
• Set-up, troubleshooting, and use of arterial lines
• External Ventricular Drains (EVDs), including Camino ICP monitoring
• External pacemakers
• Chest tubes
• Swan/Cordis central line catheter use and monitoring
• Recovery and monitoring of arterial puncture sites

• Charge Nurse: Available Monday-Friday, 0600-1630
• Phlebotomy: N/A
• IV/VAT Team: N/A

No floating required.

Orientation

4 days of orientation with 10-hour shifts.

Scheduling

• Shift Options:
  • 4 × 10-hour shifts: 0700-1730 or 0800-1830
  • 8-hour shifts: 0700-1530 or 0730-1600 on call days
• Call: 1 week on, 2 weeks off
