Registered Nurse/Med-Surg Neuro

Unit Overview

This 31-bed unit provides care for patients with acute and subacute strokes, transient ischemic attacks, medically unstable psychiatric illnesses, alcohol detox, and other acute neurological conditions. The unit also handles general medical concerns.

Position Details

  • Start Date: Orientation will be available on the following dates: 10/05/2026, 10/19/2026, 11/02/2026, 11/16/2026, 11/30/2026. Note that orientation occurs bi-weekly and may require flexibility regarding start dates.
  • Contract Length: The position is initially posted for 26 weeks, with preference for longer contracts of 26 to 51 weeks. Shorter contracts may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Shifts: 12-hour shifts with a guaranteed 36 hours per week. Weekend rotation required every other weekend.
  • Float Requirements: May require floating to other post-surgical and medical/surgical inpatient floors.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of acute care medical/surgical nursing experience required.
  • Certifications: AHA BLS certification is required at the time of submission. Certification in CPI and NIHSS is a plus.
  • License: Candidates must hold a valid Kansas or multistate nursing license, with no hits allowed.
  • Education: ADN or BSN is required.

Compliance Requirements

Immunity documentation for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella (by titer or proof of vaccination) is mandatory. Additionally, the TDaP and Influenza vaccinations are required, or an exemption request must be submitted during flu season. Tuberculosis documentation is also required.
