Registered Nurse (RN) – Postpartum / Newborn Nursery

Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and skilled Registered Nurses to join our Postpartum and Newborn Nursery unit. As an RN in this role, you will provide high-quality care to both postpartum patients and newborns, with a focus on ensuring the health and well-being of mothers and their children.

Shift Details

• Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Weekend Requirement: Every Other
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to postpartum and high-risk antepartum patients.
• Monitor and assess the health status of mothers and newborns.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Perform newborn assessments and care in the nursery setting.
• Educate patients and families regarding postpartum care and newborn care practices.

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN License (temporary licenses are not accepted).
• A minimum of 2 years of hospital experience is required.
• Current certifications: NRP and BLS.
• Experience caring for high-risk antepartum patients and in newborn nursery care.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Advanced FM is a plus.
• Certification as an RNC-OB is advantageous but not required.
• Familiarity with Meditech documentation system.

Dress Code

• Scrub Color: Royal Blue.
• Nail Policy: Clean and healthy nails; no artificial nails, gels, or similar enhancements.
• Hair: Must be neat and clean; extreme styles or colors are not permitted. Hair longer than shoulder length should be pulled back.
• Tattoos: Should be covered whenever possible. Non-coverable tattoos will be subject to individual assessment.
• Piercings: Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited, including nose and tongue rings.

Floating Policy

Floating to other units may be required as needed based on staffing requirements.

Attendance Policies

Standard attendance policies will be enforced as per company guidelines.
