Job Details

• Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum of 3 weekend shifts (Friday and Saturday nights and 1 Sunday in a 4-week schedule)
• Holiday Requirement: Travelers to work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic, patient-centered care to postpartum patients, including those with vaginal deliveries and C-section deliveries.
• Monitor patients who may be on magnesium sulfate, antibiotics, or hypertensive medications.
• Manage a typical patient ratio of 3:1 for couplets and 4:1 with the support of a Patient Care Technician (PCT) if needed.
• Perform nursing functions including IV starts as needed.
• Collaborate with an in-house OB Hospitalist and pediatrician available for 24/7 consultation and coverage.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an acute care setting, preferably in postpartum or neonatal care.
• Certifications: BLS Certification and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required.
• Floating Policy: Nurses will not float between units unless they have demonstrated competency in other areas. Travelers may occasionally float to other locations within the region as needed.

Additional Information

• Orientation: A pass/fail simulation lab is required on Day 1 of orientation, with study guides provided.
• Dress Code: Dignity Health scrubs for RNs, while travelers are permitted to wear dark blue scrubs.
• EMR System: Cerner
• Nursing Support: Generally no PCT staffing; however, a PCT may be available for 4:1 ratios.
