Staff Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The registered nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises individual patient care using the nursing process. The nurse accepts responsibility for directing co-workers and delegating role-appropriate tasks in the implementation of care. All duties and responsibilities are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Job Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree in nursing; Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Valid license to practice in the State of Ohio. CPR certification required.
  • Experience: Previous registered nursing experience preferred.
  • Job-related Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to problem-solve and facilitate resolution to issues, demonstrate the ability to handle multiple priorities, and make independent decisions; critical thinking skills are essential.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care of each patient according to the nursing process.
  • Provides quality care based on assessment needs and established care plans.
  • Educates patients and families from admission through discharge.
  • Documents the nursing process accurately and legibly.
  • Notifies the physician of pertinent observations and changes in patient status.
  • Administers medications and performs treatments accurately and safely.
  • Implements physician orders as written.
  • Ensures equipment and supplies are available for patient care, reporting malfunctions promptly.

Physical Capacity Demand

Position may require exertion of 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently. Patient handling activities are common.

Job Considerations

  • Psychological/Mental: Requires emotional regulation and self-control. Must manage urgent situations calmly.
  • Cognitive: Requires intact cognitive function in areas such as attention, memory, and perception. Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are needed.
  • Environmental: No special considerations are required.

Shift Information

Night shifts available with occasional weekend obligations.

Minimum Years of Experience

2 years of registered nursing experience preferred.

Certifications / Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life
