Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Telemetry

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Med Surg/Telemetry unit. This position is focused on providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, primarily during night shifts.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Telemetry
• Number of Beds: Unit 2: 24 beds, Unit 3: 32 beds
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: Days: 1:5, Nights: 1:6
• Common Diagnoses: All types, including respiratory issues, COPD, chest pain, and patients awaiting stress tests.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans.
• Titrate and manage intravenous drips such as Cardizem and Amiodarone.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms and ensure accurate documentation in patient charts.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Delegate and supervise nursing assistants and patient care technicians as necessary.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in a telemetry setting is preferred.
• Required Certifications: Current BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
• Skills: Proficient in telemetry/rhythm interpretation; familiarity with troubleshooting respiratory equipment is a plus.

Work Schedule and Requirements

• Shift: Night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM, every other weekend required.
• Orientation: 3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation will be provided.
• Weekend Requirements: 5-6 weekend shifts per 6 weeks.
• Floating Requirements: May float to multiple locations within the region.

Dress Code

Navy blue scrubs are required for all nursing staff. Scrubs are not provided.
