Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Information

Join our dynamic team in a 47-bed Surgical Telemetry Unit, specializing in post-operative surgical care and general telemetry patients.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess patients in a telemetry setting with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 for telemetry and 1:5 for MedSurg.
• Administer medications and intravenous drips, including Heparin and Blood products.
• Prepare and assist in post-operative care for patients, with a focus on surgical specialties such as bariatrics, orthopedic, and spine surgeries.
• Perform reading of telemetry strips and respond accordingly to changes in patient conditions.
• Work collaboratively with hospitalists and intensivists, available on-site for patient care support.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.

Shift Details

• Shifts available: 0630-1900 and 1830-0700.
• Weekend commitment: Every other weekend.
• Holiday shifts: Rotation with core staff.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
• Successful completion of floor-specific orientation consisting of one shift with a preceptor.
• Ability to float between MedSurg, Telemetry, and Rehab units as needed, based on skill set.

Support Staff

• Nurse aides available with a ratio of 1:12 during the day and 1:14 at night.
• Respiratory therapy (RT) services provided 24/7.
• Pharmacy support available around the clock.

Additional Information

• No intensive care unit responsibilities; ventilator support will not be required, though Bipap and CPAP may be utilized at night.
