Registered Nurse II – Tele Float Pool

Job Overview

The Registered Nurse II (RN II) position within the Tele Float Pool involves providing high-quality nursing care in a variety of settings, including Telemetry and MedSurg units. This role requires a focus on patient-centered care while ensuring safety and adherence to best practices in the hospital environment.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Telemetry
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Bed Capacity: Varies by unit
• Charge Nurse: Yes, with no patient assignment
• Tech Support: Available based on patient ratios

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients in Telemetry, MedSurg, and various holding areas.
• Administer medications and titrate cardiac drips effectively.
• Maintain patient safety and provide high-quality care in fast-paced and varying environments.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Float between units as needed, including ICUs and other Telemetry units.
• Participate in patient education and support patients and families in decision-making.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
• Ability to interpret EKGs and manage critical cardiac medications.
• Must successfully pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing.
• Completion of a Sim Lab assessment on day one of orientation.

Shift and Weekend Requirements

• Work night shifts, with 4 weekend shifts every schedule during Saturday and Sunday.
• Commitment to working 2 of 3 major holidays.
• Notification of assignment changes provided 1.5 hours prior to shift start.

Patient Populations

Typical patient diagnoses in the Tele Float Pool include:

• Post-catheterization and vascular procedures.
• Patients recovering from cardiac surgeries and neurological procedures.
• General Medical-Surgical patients requiring telemetry monitoring.

Location

Positions are available in various units within Chandler, AZ, and surrounding areas. Nurses should be prepared for potential floating between campuses.
