Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in acute care and possess excellent clinical skills, with a focus on providing exceptional patient care.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 30 beds
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1 to 5
• Shift Type: 12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
• Scrub Color: Navy
• EMR System: Cerner

Schedule Requirements

• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
• Holiday Availability: Must work into permanent staff rotation

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical and post-operative surgical patients.
• Conduct patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure quality patient outcomes.
• Utilize critical thinking to interpret cardiac rhythms; a dysrhythmia exam will be required.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including potential float shifts to tele units (1:4 ratio) and between med-surg floors.

Support Staff

• Nurse Aides: 2 on days, 1 on nights
• Charge Nurse: Clinical supervisor who provides break relief and does not take patient assignments.

Qualifications

• Must possess BLS certification.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a medical-surgical nursing role is required.
• Previous travel nursing experience is essential.
• Team player with excellent communication skills.
