Registered Nurse II – Medical Telemetry

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse II to join our Medical Telemetry Unit. This position involves providing high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring patients, interpreting telemetry, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Telemetry
• Number of Beds: 30 (Three 10-bed units)
• Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
• Common Diagnoses:
  • Surgical: Total hip & knee replacement, small bowel resection, hysterectomy, exploratory laparoscopy
  • Medical: MRSA, C-diff infections, suicide attempt, drug or alcohol withdrawal, COPD, pneumonia, COVID, chest pain
• Equipment: Care for stable C-PAP or Bi-PAP patients

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Schedule: Every other weekend; holiday rotation
• Floating Requirements: May float to Multi Care Unit & Pediatric unit

Qualifications

• Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Med-Surg; prefer candidates with telemetry experience.
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification
• Dysrhythmia Exam: Must pass on the first two attempts prior to signing the contract.
• Skills: Ability to read and interpret telemetry; may be asked to precept nursing students.

Team Structure

• Nurse Aids: NAs take 10-15 patients; RNs may take 3 patients if no NA is available.
• Remote Monitors: Monitor Techs available; RNs are responsible for reading telemetry strips.

Dress Code

Currently, any scrub color is permitted except camouflage.
