Job Description:

Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Directs and coordinates nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care to achieve the best possible patient outcome. Serves as a resource person when the situation requires. Applies age-specific considerations and cultural diversity when rendering patient care. Responsible for care of all patients from birth to elderly, including post-surgical and behavioral health patients. Conducts the initial assessment and re-assessment every 24 hours.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver nursing care using the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Direct and coordinate nursing care based on recognized standards.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals for efficient care.
• Serve as a resource when necessary.

Requirements:

• Must have completed a program of education in nursing from an NLN approved institution.
• Licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse.
• Current BLS certification.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Able to practice nursing as described in Alaska Status regarding Registered Nursing practice.
• Experience in managing Behavioral Health Patients and employing therapeutic communication.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables.
