Unit Name: MS Float

• Cost Center: 6046
• Number of Beds: 61 combined
• Ratios: Days – 1:5 and Nights – 1:6

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Scrub Color/Dress Code: Any scrub color

Responsibilities

• Provide care to both surgical and medical patients, including but not limited to total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, general surgical cases, CHF, CVA, shortness of breath, and diabetic issues.
• Participate in unit and department-specific orientation and complete the designated float checklist.
• Engage in floating requirements as needed within the unit.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Med/Surg setting.
• Required Certification: BLS Certification.
• Must possess common skills matching current Med/Surg practices.

Unit Notes

This unit is staffed with nursing assistants at a ratio of 1:15. Monitoring technology is available, with a monitor technician reading strips and RN confirmation required.

Additional Information

• Floating between units is expected.
• On-call or standby requirements will apply.
