Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Medical Surgical unit. This 32-bed unit specializes in caring for patients undergoing various surgeries including colorectal, orthopedic, and urological procedures. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care through clinical expertise and teamwork.

Contract Details

• Start Dates: Orientation available on 10/19/2026, 11/02/2026, 11/16/2026, 11/30/2026.
• Length of Contract: 26 weeks preferred; longer contracts (26-51 weeks) will receive priority.
• Shift: 12-hour shifts with guaranteed 36 hours per week.
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend required.
• Holiday Rotation: Holiday RTO policy allows for one holiday off per year; includes two federal holidays and select non-essential holidays.

Unit Information

• The unit provides care for patients recovering from major abdominal surgeries (colectomy, bowel resection, ostomy, hernia repair), urological procedures (TURP, kidney stones, prostatectomy), and orthopedic surgeries (hip fx, ankle fx, amputations).
• Staffing ratios are 1:6, ensuring a supportive environment for patient care.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical experience required; progressive care or step-down experience is a plus.
• Education: ADN or BSN required.
• Certifications: Current AHA BLS certification is required at the time of submission.
• Licensure: Active KS or Multistate license required; no hits allowed, no exceptions.
• Charting System: Familiarity with Epic is preferred (test-out option available).

Additional Information

• Float Requirements: May be required to float to other post-surgical floors and medical-surgical inpatient floors.
• Jewelry and Body Adornment Policy: Visible tattoos are permitted as long as they are not offensive; facial and ear piercings are acceptable if they do not interfere with job duties and maintain a professional appearance.
• Vaccination Requirements: Proof of immunity to Hep B, MMR, and Varicella, along with TDaP and Influenza vaccine documentation is required.
