Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical
Job Overview
We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses for a dynamic and fast-paced medical-surgical unit specializing in post-surgical care, particularly abdominal and colorectal surgeries. The ideal candidates will join a collaborative team dedicated to providing high-quality patient care in a supportive environment.
Unit Details
- Unit/Department: 7 South – Post-Surgical: Abdominal/Colorectal
- Bed Capacity: 32 beds
- Patient Population: Includes colorectal surgery, major abdominal surgeries, urological procedures, orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery, specialty wound care, and surgical drains.
- Staffing Ratios: 1:6
Contract Details
- Length of Contract: 26 weeks, with preference for contracts extending from 26 to 51 weeks.
- Start Dates: Orientation occurs bi-weekly; flexibility on preferred dates is required.
- Shift Details: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed per week.
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend.
- Holiday RTO Policy: Requested holidays off are limited to one, with opportunities to participate in both federal and non-essential holidays.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience is required; progressive care or step-down experience is a plus.
- Education: ADN or BSN degree.
- Licensure: Kansas or multistate nursing license without any disciplinary action.
- Certifications: AHA BLS certification required at the time of submission.
Additional Information
- Charting System: Epic (testing option available).
- Float Requirements: May float to other post-surgical and medical-surgical inpatient floors.
- Tattoo and Piercing Policy: Visible tattoos are allowed as long as they are not offensive. Piercings are acceptable provided they do not interfere with job duties.
- Vaccination Requirements: Documentation required for Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella immunity via titer or vaccination completion, TDaP vaccine, influenza vaccine (or exemption during flu season), and TB documentation.
