Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in the Medical Surgical unit. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a post-surgical environment specializing in Urology and Bariatric Surgery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate clinical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse healthcare team.
Unit Overview
The position is based in a 28-bed unit focused on post-operative care for patients undergoing bariatric reduction, urologic/nephrology procedures, and managing conditions that require surgical intervention. Common conditions treated include infections, GI diseases, and surgical procedures such as cholecystectomy and appendectomy.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to post-surgical patients.
- Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to assess and manage patient care plans.
- Monitor patient progress and respond to changes in condition promptly.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using the Epic charting system.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas or a multistate license.
- AHA BLS certification required upon submission.
- Minimum of one year of Medical Surgical nursing experience is required; experience in progressive care/step down is a plus.
- ADN or BSN degree from an accredited nursing program.
Contract Length and Scheduling
This position is posted for an initial 26-week contract, with the potential for extension up to 51 weeks. Candidates seeking shorter contracts may be considered on a case-by-case basis. The schedule includes 12-hour shifts with a guaranteed 36 hours per week, and a weekend rotation is required every other weekend.
Compliance and Certification Requirements
All certifications and licenses must be submitted at the time of application. Required documentation includes:
- Immunization records for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella (via titer or proof of vaccination).
- TDaP vaccine, influenza vaccine (or exemption during flu season), and TB documentation.
