Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Surgical team. This position will focus on delivering high-quality patient care in a dynamic hospital environment.
Position Details
- Unit/Department: 6 North – General Medical Inpatient
- Length of Contract: 26 weeks, with preference for longer contracts (up to 51 weeks)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week with 12-hour shifts
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Holiday Rotation: HCP may request one holiday off, with two federal holidays per year, and one spring holiday and two winter non-essential holidays
Floating Requirements
Candidates should be prepared to float to other post-surgical and medical surgical inpatient floors as necessary.
Qualifications
- Certifications: AHA BLS required at the time of submission
- License: Current KS or multistate license with no incidents
- Education: ADN or BSN required
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of acute care medical/surgical experience
Charting Systems
The unit utilizes the Epic charting system, with a testing option available as needed.
Unit Overview
This 32-bed unit provides care for a diverse range of general medical patients, addressing various diagnoses, including respiratory, gastrointestinal, neurological, and musculoskeletal conditions, as well as managing dialysis and various infections.
Staffing Ratios
The typical staffing ratio is 1:6, ensuring adequate support and attention for every patient.
Jewelry and Body Adornment Policy
Visible tattoos are permitted provided they are appropriate for a professional setting. Piercings are acceptable if they do not interfere with job duties and maintain a professional appearance.
Vaccination Requirements
Candidates must provide documentation of immunity status for Hep B, MMR, and Varicella (either through titers or vaccination completion), as well as evidence of TDaP and influenza vaccination or exemption requests during flu season. TB documentation is also required.
