Registered Nurse – Medical / Surgical

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Surgical team on a high acuity floor specializing in Trauma Surgery. This role requires flexibility in working various shifts and an ability to manage a diverse patient population. The RN will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients with surgical needs, including trauma and specialized cases such as gunshot wounds and spinal injuries (quadriplegic and paraplegic patients).
• Work collaboratively with Nursing Support Techs to ensure high-quality patient support.
• Manage a patient-to-nurse ratio of 5:1.
• Conduct phlebotomy as needed, with phlebotomists available on site.
• Engage with unit secretaries to facilitate smooth operations during night shifts.
• Coordinate with Emergency Department nurses and the admitting unit to ensure comprehensive nurse handoffs.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical/Surgical or Trauma nursing specialty.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Proficient in using EPIC electronic health record systems.
• Exemplary communication and teamwork skills.

This position is based on a high acuity floor where registered nurses play a pivotal role in patient recovery and overall health management. Nurses are expected to adapt to dynamic environments and respond promptly to patient needs.
