Registered Nurse – Medical / Surgical

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our high-acuity Medical/Surgical unit. This role involves caring for patients with diverse needs including surgical cases, trauma, and complex medical conditions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a commitment to patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients with surgical and traumatic injuries.
• Manage a patient ratio of 5:1, ensuring high-quality care and support.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team, including Nursing Support Techs, phlebotomists, and unit secretaries.
• Participate in nurse handoff communications with Emergency Department nurses and admitting units.

Qualifications

• Current and valid nursing license.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical/Surgical specialty.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Proficiency in EPIC electronic health record systems.
• Willingness to work various shifts without any scheduling blocks.

Patient Population

This role focuses on a diverse patient population, including those with surgical needs, gunshot wounds, and individuals with quadriplegia or paraplegia.
