Job Description:

Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care and to achieve the best possible patient outcome. Serves as a resource person when the situation requires. Applies age-specific considerations and cultural diversity when rendering patient care. Is responsible for care of all patients from birth to elderly, including post-surgical and behavioral health patients. Is responsible for conducting the initial assessment and reassessment every 24 hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial and reassessment of all patients every 24 hours
  • Direct and coordinate nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to achieve the best possible patient outcome
  • Serve as a resource person when required
  • Apply age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care

Requirements:

  • Must have completed a program of education in nursing from an NLN-approved institution
  • Must be licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • Current BLS certification
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to practice nursing as per Alaska Status for Registered Nursing
  • Able to manage care across the continuum
  • Ability to independently act within prescribed limits
  • Ability to use the nursing process in patient care provision
  • Experience with managing Behavioral Health Patients
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
