Registered Nurse – Medical / Surgical

Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse for a high-acuity Medical/Surgical floor. This role involves caring for patients with complex needs, including those recovering from surgery, trauma patients, and individuals with spinal cord injuries.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions regularly.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Assist with education for patients and families regarding health management and recovery.
• Utilize EPIC for electronic health records management.

Qualifications

• Current RN license and BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in medical/surgical nursing, with a focus on high-acuity patients.
• Ability to work flexible shifts with no block scheduling.
• Experience in a surgical trauma setting preferred.
• Familiarity with patient care technologies, including electronic health records.

Patient Population and Care Environment

This position involves caring for patients with a range of complex conditions, including surgical patients, individuals with gunshot wounds, and those with quadriplegia or paraplegia. You will work in a collaborative environment with nursing support techs, phlebotomists, and unit secretaries, maintaining a patient ratio of 5:1.
