Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery

Unit Highlights:

This position involves working in a high-risk obstetrical unit focused on labor and delivery, providing care to patients in a women’s hospital environment.

General Information:

• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift Details: Night shift, 7 PM – 7 AM, 3 shifts per week
• Weekend Requirements: Rotating weekends required
• Call Requirements: Discuss during the interview
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 to 40 hours per week

Unit Specifics:

• Number of Beds: 24
• Patient Ratios: Estimated 2:1 and 3:1 in OBED triage
• Unit Staffing Description: High-risk obstetrical unit, labor and delivery
• Type of Equipment: GE fetal monitors
• Documentation System: Meditech, CPN
• Floating Policy: As needed

Qualifications:

• Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years in high-risk labor and delivery care
• Special Skills/Experience: High-risk obstetrical bedside training, circulating in cesarean sections, and recovering high acuity patients
• Preferred Skills: Intermediate AWONN fetal monitoring certificate

Patient Care Procedures:

This unit performs the following procedures:

• Vaginal deliveries
• Cesarean sections
• Dilation and curettage (D&C)
• Post-delivery recovery care

Professional Appearance:

• Scrub Color: Specific color to be discussed during the interview
• Nail Policy: Clean and healthy; no artificial nails, gel, or similar types
• Hair: Must be neat and clean, no extreme styles or colors. Long hair must be pulled back.
• Tattoos: Should be covered whenever possible; visible tattoos will be addressed individually.
• Piercings: Only ear piercings are acceptable; other visible piercings are prohibited.
