Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery

Unit Information

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Labor and Delivery Unit. The unit has a total of 8 beds and is staffed by 19 personnel.

Shift Information

• Shift: Nights
• Typical Schedule: 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM
• Week Structure: 3 shifts one week and 2 shifts the next week
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend

Unit Overview

• Patient Ratios: 2:1 for labor patients, 4:1 for couplets (mother/baby)
• Equipment Used: Fetal monitors
• Electronic Medical Record: Meditech, CPN
• Call Requirements: 1 call shift per week, with potential for 2 on a week with only 2 shifts

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Labor and Delivery experience
• Nursery experience

Preferred Skills

• C-Section experience

Typical Procedures

• Deliveries and recovery
• Newborn testing (CCHD, Newborn Metabolic Screening, Bilirubin, Hearing Screening)

Personality Fit

The ideal candidate is hardworking, willing to ask questions, and eager to assist colleagues as needed.

Required Certifications

• ACLS
• NRP
• STABLE
• CEFM or AWHONN fetal monitoring

Floating Requirements

Occasionally may float as a sitter in the Emergency Department or Medical/Surgical Unit.

Dress Code

Scrubs will be provided by the facility.
