Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor and Delivery

Unit Information

The Labor and Delivery unit specializes in providing high-quality care to expectant mothers and newborns. This unit is equipped to handle a range of maternal and neonatal situations and has a commitment to excellence in patient care.

  • Number of Beds: 16
  • Staff Count: 120
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1, 1:2
  • Type of Equipment: Baxter Pumps, Philips Electronic Fetal Monitoring
  • Electronic Medical Records: Cerner, Fetal Ink

Job Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for delivering comprehensive care to mothers during labor, delivery, and postpartum. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing immediate newborn care and high-risk obstetrical nursing.
  • Assisting in various procedures including vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, dilation and curettage (D&C), cerclage, and C-hysterectomy.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Monitoring and interpreting fetal heart patterns and maternal vital signs.

Qualifications

  • Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery nursing.
  • Required Skills: High-risk experience and immediate newborn care.
  • Preferred Experience: Circulating experience in surgical settings.
  • Required Certifications:
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • BLS/ALS (Basic Life Support/Advanced Life Support)
    • Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification

Additional Information

Floating may occur to areas such as Maternal-Fetal Medicine Unit (MFMU), Mother and Baby (MOMB), and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The dress code is scrub attire provided by the facility.
