Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

A Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) is needed for a night shift position with an immediate start date. The shift will run from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM. The schedule consists of a 5/2 rotation which includes 2 consecutive days of work followed by 2 days off, then 5 days of work followed by 5 days off starting in the second week of the schedule. The first week will be dedicated to orientation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care to laboring patients in a supportive and compassionate manner.
• Monitor patient progress during labor and assist with deliveries.
• Document patient information and clinical data accurately using OBIX and MedHost electronic medical records (EMR).
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure quality patient care.
• Respond to emergencies and provide life-saving interventions as necessary.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or a multistate license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from AHA.
• AWHONN certification required at the time of submission.

Work Environment

The Labor and Delivery Unit is closely connected with the Nursery; however, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) typically handle the nursery patients while the RN focuses on maternal care during labor. The position is located in Bastrop, a smaller town with ample housing options available in Monroe.
