Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery (RN)

Position Overview

This is a seasonal contract position for a Registered Nurse in the Labor and Delivery unit, offering a commitment of 13 weeks. The nursing staff will work from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with no call requirements.

Unit Information

Located on the 3rd floor of an acute hospital, the Labor and Delivery unit is a designated Level 4 maternal center, caring for the most complex patients at any gestation. The unit features:

  • Number of Beds: 22 (16 labor beds)
  • Staffing: Approximately 100 staff members including RNs and support staff
  • Patient Ratios: 1:2 or 1:1
  • Type of Equipment: CPN and Meditech EMR

Shift Details

  • Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Weekends: 4 weekend shifts are required per schedule

Qualifications

Requirements for candidates include:

  • Experience with high-risk maternal patients
  • Skills in circulating operating room and triage

Preferred qualifications:

  • More than 5 years of experience in a relevant nursing role

Typical Procedures

The Labor and Delivery unit is involved in several procedures, including but not limited to:

  • Vaginal and Cesarean section deliveries
  • Tubal ligations
  • Cerclage placement and removal
  • D&C procedures
  • C-hyst and PASD cases

Dress Code

Scrub Color: Navy blue. Specific attire guidelines are enforced, and inappropriate clothing may be deemed unacceptable.
