Registered Nurse (RN) – Birthing Center/Mother Baby

Job Summary

This position involves working in a busy birthing center with a focus on labor and delivery, postpartum care, and maternal safety. The ideal candidate will provide compassionate care to mothers and newborns, ensuring adherence to best practices and guidelines.

Unit Information

• Labor & Delivery Beds: 13
• Operating Room Suites for C-Sections: 2
• Triage Beds: 2
• Postpartum Beds: 14
• Average Births Per Month: 170-190

Key Responsibilities

• Attend deliveries independently and assist in circulating for C-sections.
• Provide care for patients with high-risk conditions including preeclampsia, diabetes, and mental health concerns.
• Support newborn transitions and attend to low-risk deliveries.
• Administer and titrate medications such as magnesium, Pitocin, and insulin as needed.
• Collaborate with OB/GYNs, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and nursing assistants to ensure high-quality patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in LDRP.
• Current certifications: BLS, NRP; preference for Intermediate or Advanced FHM.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to changes in processes and workflows.

Shift and Scheduling

• Shifts are primarily night shifts.
• Weekend requirements include working nights on Fridays and Saturdays, with holidays rotated with permanent staff.
• Floating is required within the maternity unit, including postpartum care; no floating to NICU.

Orientation and Training

• Completion of an 8-hour compliance orientation, followed by an 8-hour EPIC training session.
• On-the-job orientation includes 2-3 shifts specific to the unit.
