Job Description:

Responsible to Unit Director for overall nursing practice. Includes the responsibility for assessment of childbearing women (adolescence to middle adulthood), neonates, and family needs, the development of a plan of care to meet those needs, implementation of nursing interventions, and evaluation of nursing care based on outcomes for the population served.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists women and infants to attain and maintain optimum health by assessing patient and family’s developmental level, health status, and health history including sexual and reproductive history and identified learning needs.
  • Developing a plan of care based on identified physical and learning needs and teaching self-care and/or the care of the newborn to patients and families.
  • Provides support and collaborates with other health care disciplines in the treatment and referrals of families at risk.
  • Promotes an environment free of hazards to reproduction, growth and development, wellness, and promotes recovery from illness.
  • Accepts responsibility and accountability for maintaining knowledge, skills, and competency in the care of women and infants by updating knowledge and clinical skills on an ongoing basis.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited registered nurse program required.
  • Current Pennsylvania RN licensure.
  • Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years.
  • Holds the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification and renews NRP every two years.
  • Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and renews ACLS every two years.
  • Must have EPIC experience.
