ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Summary

This position primarily operates within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and may occasionally float to the Emergency Department, Medical/Surgical unit, or Pediatrics during low census scenarios. The ICU Registered Nurse provides essential nursing care to critically ill patients, performing a variety of complex nursing procedures that require professional knowledge and independent decision-making skills. This role involves the provision of inpatient care and support to individuals of all ages and their families in a 5-bed ICU setting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
• Monitor and assess patients’ conditions and implement appropriate interventions.
• Administer medications and treatments as per physician orders and established protocols.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families.
• Participate in after-hours recovery of postoperative patients as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience: A minimum of 3 years of prior ICU experience is required.
• Education: An Associate Degree in Nursing is required.
• Certifications: Must hold and maintain a current, unrestricted Professional Nursing License (RN) valid in any state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States.
• Current certifications in the following areas must be maintained throughout employment:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (to be completed within six months of hire)
  • Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) (to be completed within six months of hire)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) (to be completed within six months of hire)

Shift Information

All shifts are available, and holiday coverage is required.
