ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our clinical team. This position involves providing critical care to patients in a fast-paced environment, including the potential to float to other units as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the ICU, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Administer medications and therapies as prescribed while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, including reading and interpreting cardiac telemetry strips.
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, including internal medicine hospitalists and pulmonologists.
• Participate in patient education and family support initiatives.
• Float to the telemetry, medical-surgical, and other units as necessary, managing a full patient load.
• Engage in unit-specific orientation and training, including a two-shift orientation in the ICU.
• Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and procedures, including the ABCDE bundle.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required; CCRN and basic critical care course preferred.
• Strong intravenous (IV) skills essential.
• Experience with critical care patients, especially in managing conditions such as sepsis, DKA, COPD, and CVA.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Available to work two weekends per four-week schedule and holidays as needed.

Additional Information

The ICU unit consists of 20 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2. Our team operates with a supportive charge nurse on each shift who serves as a resource without taking patient assignments. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7.
