ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Information

• Unit Type: ICU
• Number of Beds: 8 beds
• Patient Ratios: 1:1-2
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
• Experience Required: 2 years of ICU experience
• Common Diagnoses: Primarily medical ICU cases
• Additional Notes: The ICU features a horseshoe layout and offers a supportive environment for basic ICU RN travelers. PACU is adjacent to the ICU.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
• Float to sister facilities and Medical-Surgical unit as needed, with a maximum of 4 patients.
• Perform bedside report during shift changes.
• Work collaboratively with Hospitalist or Intensivist teams, who are available on-site.
• Interpret EKG strips and manage ventilator-dependent patients.
• Participate in self-scheduling and make yourself available for extra shifts as needed.

Schedule Requirements

• Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7 AM to 7:30 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Rotation with core staff

Orientation and Support

• Scheduled floor orientation: 1-2 days with a designated preceptor.
• Access to self-scheduling from home, allowing for extra shift availability and trades with other staff.
• Shift schedules released 4 weeks in advance.

• Pharmacy: Available 24/7
• Nurse Aides: Available based on census and staffing needs

Qualifications

• Able to provide confirmation of legal name through relevant identification.
• Must have completed the Dysphagia Exam through Relias within the last 12 months or pass the exam within two attempts after acceptance.
• Prior employment restrictions: Candidates should not have been employed by any associated facility within the last year. PRN employment through outside firms may be accepted.
