ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced Intensive Care Unit. This role involves working night shifts and requires strong clinical skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver critical nursing care to patients in the ICU, ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and assess changes in conditions.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients’ families and the healthcare team.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and timely.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and collaborate with healthcare professionals.
  • Float to different units within the region as needed.
  • Provide care for a variety of diagnoses including medical/surgical cases, respiratory failure, sepsis, and post-operative complications.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience.
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
  • Ability to read and interpret EKG strips.
  • Experience with ventilators and critical care procedures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work weekends and rotate holidays with core staff.

Shift Details

This position requires full-time commitment with 12-hour night shifts. The nurse will work every other weekend and must be available for floating between facilities. Schedules are self-managed, allowing flexibility for extra shifts and trades.

Work Environment

The ICU consists of 12 beds, providing a dynamic and intensive work atmosphere with a supportive team and 24/7 access to respiratory therapy and pharmacy services. Orientation will include 1-2 days on the floor with a preceptor.

Additional Information

  • Scrub colors: Navy. Undershirts must be navy, white, or black.
  • Must be comfortable providing care for comfort care patients.
  • Reports and handovers are conducted at the bedside.
  • Travelers must arrange their own housing.
