ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced 30-bed Trauma ICU. This opportunity requires a strong background in critical care and the ability to work collaboratively in a demanding environment.

Shift and Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Rotational floating to PCU and CICU as needed
• Schedules made approximately 6 weeks in advance

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients, with a primary focus on trauma and neuro-stroke patients.
• Monitor and manage patients requiring ventriculostomy and ICP monitoring.
• Titrate drips for vasopressors and sedation as needed.
• Collaborate with the charge nurse and house supervisor; the charge nurse will not have a patient assignment.
• Interpret telemetry strips with assistance from the unit secretary when needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in ICU, with strong skills in trauma and neuro patients.
• Previous travel experience is preferred.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS; PALS certification is preferred and required after 6 months for longer assignments.
• MUST have experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomy; candidates lacking this experience must have experience with post-TPA patients.

Additional Information

• Unit staff includes a unit tech for 30 beds, who primarily provides secretarial support.
• Intensivist and respiratory therapist available 24/7.
• Must be willing to ask questions and seek help as needed, ensuring a smooth workflow in a high-pressure environment.
• Holiday requests will be considered but are not guaranteed.
• Dress code: Navy scrubs.
