ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated team in providing exceptional care to critically ill patients. The ideal candidate will have experience in an Intensive Care Unit and will be equipped with the necessary certifications and skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
  • Monitor and assess patient conditions, implementing appropriate interventions.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver optimal patient outcomes.
  • Float to Medical-Surgical Telemetry and Telemetry floors as needed, taking full patient loads.
  • Respond promptly to patient and family needs, ensuring compassionate care.
  • Participate in department meetings and professional development opportunities.

Additional Information

  • Unit: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 20 beds
  • Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 2 patients
  • Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; CCRN certification and basic critical care course preferred
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Cerner
  • Strong IV skills are necessary
  • Vents managed by Respiratory Therapy (RT) available 24/7
  • Additional holidays will be required based on unit needs
  • Comfort with the ABCDE bundle for critically ill patients is essential

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an ICU setting.
  • Ability to manage complex medical conditions including but not limited to sepsis, DKA, hyperglycemia, COPD, and GI bleeds.
  • Must be comfortable with full patient loads when floating to other floors.

Location Information

This opportunity is located in a region that is central to national parks, with outdoor sports and trails available at nearby lakes. The area boasts affordable housing and is conveniently situated within a few hours’ drive from major cities such as San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno, and Modesto.

Schedule and Availability

The position requires 12-hour night shifts, with rotations covering 2 weekends out of every 4 weeks. Holidays may also be required based on unit needs.
