ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intensive Care Unit team. This role involves providing high-quality care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to ICU patients, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications.
• Titrate drips for various treatments, including cardiac and sedation drips, as required.
• Interpreting and documenting telemetry strips with oversight from tele techs.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Assist with procedures, ensure patient safety, and provide emotional support to patients and families.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU setting.
• Current ACLS, BLS Certification, and NIHSS certification are required.
• State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to changing situations.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Number of Beds: 33, with an average daily census of 16 patients.
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:2-3 for adults.
• Common diagnoses include trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, and respiratory distress.
• Expected to manage advanced respiratory equipment and emergency interventions.

Shift Information

• 12-hour day shifts (0630-1830) with weekend requirements every other weekend.
• RNs may be required to float to the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or MedSurg units as needed.
• One shift of unit-specific orientation provided.
• Minimum of 2 holidays required during the contract period.

Additional Information

• Artificial nails are not permitted in patient care areas.
• Self-scheduling is available for core staff, with added flexibility for travelers.
• Must adhere to a radius rule of 50 miles for applicants.
