ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients in the Intensive Care Unit, supporting them through critical illness and recovery.

Job Details

• Unit Type: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirements: Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract period
• Orientation: 1 shift of unit-specific orientation
• Floating: Typically to PCU or MedSurg, maintaining similar nurse-to-patient ratios

Patient Care Responsibilities

• Monitor and observe patients’ conditions and document changes in their status.
• Titrate intravenous drips as needed, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation.
• Carry out care plans and adjust as necessary based on patient needs.
• Utilize various respiratory equipment, including troubleshooting nasal cannulas and ventilators.
• Read and interpret telemetry strips with oversight from tele techs.

Qualifications

• Active RN license.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• Experience in ICU settings, with a strong knowledge of critical care processes and procedures.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining patient safety and care quality.

Work Environment

The ICU unit consists of 33 beds with an average daily census of 16, providing care for a variety of conditions such as trauma, cardiac issues, overdoses, sepsis, and respiratory distress. Nurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1:2 to 1:3 for adults.

• Strict fingernail policy: Artificial nails are not permitted in patient care areas.
• RTO (Request Time Off) must be provided upfront, with limitations on additional RTO requests.
