Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the Emergency Room, managing a diverse range of acute medical conditions, and playing a vital role in the healthcare team.

Shift Information

• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Yes

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient assessment and care in the Emergency Room setting.
• Manage and monitor patients with various medical conditions including cardiac issues, respiratory concerns, oncologic conditions, neurosurgery, strokes, and trauma.
• Implement evidence-based nursing interventions and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
• Maintain accurate patient records in accordance with established standards.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Participate in department activities related to quality improvement and patient safety.
• Effectively communicate with patients and families regarding care plans and health education.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in an emergency room or critical care setting.
• Required Certifications:
  • ACLS
  • BLS Certification
  • ENPC
  • NIHSS
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • PALS
  • TNCC
  • Certification in de-escalation techniques
• Pediatric readiness certified and must demonstrate competence in managing pediatric patients.

Unit Information

• Department: Emergency Room
• Patient Capacity: 21 private rooms, 2 trauma bays, 1 resuscitation room, and 1 FNE room.
• Average Patients per Day: Approximately 50
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 4 patients to 1 nurse
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: EPIC
• In-House Security: Available 24/7

Work Environment

The Emergency Room operates efficiently to ensure rapid patient care. All patients are roomed within 7 minutes of arrival. Our team of dedicated professionals collaborates closely to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate care.

Additional Information

• Orientation specific to the unit/department will be provided.
• All RN’s are required to pass an open-book exam based on skills learned during orientation.
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care.
