Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Room team. This position requires a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Details

• Evening shifts
• Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed hours: 48 hours per week
• Weekend requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday requirements: Rotated with permanent staff

Unit Information

The Emergency Room operates at a Level III trauma designation, providing care for various emergencies including:

• Pediatrics (only hospital in the area that admits pediatric patients)
• Cardiac emergencies, including STEMIs
• Stroke cases
• General emergencies such as abdominal pain and respiratory issues

Daily patient volume averages around 70 patients, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4, depending on patient acuity.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care to individuals experiencing medical emergencies.
• Utilize EPIC for patient documentation as this role is part of an EPIC conversion.
• Conduct assessments, implement nursing interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes.
• Manage common drips and medications, including pressors and sedation.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
• Participate in the orientation of new staff and provide mentorship as needed.
• Float as necessary to support the overall function of the Emergency Room.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Room or critical care nursing experience.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS.
• Experience with EPIC software is a must.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.

Additional Information

• Unit orientation: 1-3 shifts, adjusted based on experience.
• Navy blue scrubs are required; undershirts must be navy as well.
• Candidates must pass the ADVANCED Dysrhythmia exam with a score of 83% or higher prior to contract signing; three attempts are allowed.
• Call outs are strongly discouraged, and frequent call outs may result in termination.
