Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in emergency care and a deep commitment to providing the highest quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Details

• Days: 12-hour shifts
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirements: Rotating schedule with core staff, including one major holiday

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to individuals in the Emergency Room setting.
• Assess and triage patients according to their medical needs.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including common drips such as Diltiazem, Cardene, and Nitro.
• Participate in trauma care and respond to codes and rapid response situations.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure patient safety and improve outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using the electronic medical record system.
• May be assigned to float between multiple locations as needed.
• May participate in precepting new staff or travelers as necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Emergency Room or similar high-volume trauma center.
• Must possess the following certifications:
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • BLS (AHA)
  • NIHSS
  • PALS (AHA)
  • TNCC
• Prior experience with Epic electronic medical record (EMR) is required.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills are essential.
• Must successfully pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam (83% minimum) within three attempts.

Unit Information

The Emergency Room operates as a Level III Trauma Center and serves a patient volume of approximately 135 patients daily. The unit is equipped with 30 beds, including two trauma bays and a Fast Track area known as “vertical care.” The staff-to-patient ratios vary depending on patient acuity.
