Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Summary
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) will provide critical care and support in a dynamic emergency department setting. The role requires a dedicated professional to care for patients with varying degrees of acuity, ensuring their safety and comfort while following established protocols and procedures.
Location
This position will involve working between multiple locations within the region, specifically in Bryan and College Station, TX.
Unit Information
- Trauma Level: Level III Trauma, Primary Stroke Center with comprehensive capabilities
- Beds/Trauma Bays: 30 beds with 2 trauma bays.
- Average Daily Patient Volume: Approximately 135 patients.
- Nurse to Patient Ratios: Vary based on acuity levels, generally 1:3-4 for acute care, with special ratios for trauma cases as per guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to emergency patients with a focus on assessment, intervention, and evaluation.
- Coordinate care with a diverse healthcare team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and support staff.
- Monitor and maintain patients’ vital signs and administer medications as prescribed.
- Perform necessary interventions in trauma situations, including but not limited to chest tubes and rapid transfusions.
- Assist in triage processes after proper evaluation of skills.
Qualifications
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an emergency department with similar patient volume and trauma level.
- Must have experience with EMR systems, particularly Epic is required for this role.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Special Information
- Strongly discouraging call outs to maintain unit efficiency and patient care quality.
- May require participation in orientation and training processes, as well as assistance in precepting new staff as needed.
- Floating to assist in other areas may occur as required.
Shifts and Scheduling
- Utilizes a hybrid scheduling approach, allowing for some self-scheduling while ensuring departmental needs are met.
- Weekend and holiday rotation required in conjunction with core staff.
