Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in providing high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced environment. This position requires a strong foundation in trauma care, with a focus on assessment, intervention, and treatment of patients with acute medical conditions.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in the Emergency Room (ER), managing a wide range of medical emergencies.
• Ensure effective communication and collaboration with the medical team.
• Perform trauma and critical care interventions as necessary.
• Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to safety protocols at all times.
• Float between multiple locations as required during shifts.

Qualifications

• Must possess a minimum of 2 years of ER nursing experience.
• At least 6 months of experience in a trauma Level 1 environment is required.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
• Preferably hold TNCC and ATCN certifications.

Shift Details

• Full-time position, 12-hour night shifts.
• 4 weekend shifts required per month, as determined by unit schedule.
• Holidays will be based on unit coverage needs.

Additional Requirements

• Candidates must successfully pass the DYS exam prior to acceptance.
• Completion of a SIMs Lab for required procedures is mandatory.
• All travelers must utilize their own vehicles for transportation between units.
• Must adhere to appearance policies including natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing.

Work Environment

The ER consists of 36 acute and 54 subacute beds, including 6 trauma bays. The unit handles approximately 88,000 patients annually, averaging 250-300 patients daily. Responsibilities also include caring for patients with various diagnoses, including trauma, burns, and pediatric cases.

Support Staff

• Charge nurses are available with a manageable patient load.
• Support staff includes Patient Care Technicians as sitters.
• Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services are available 24/7.

Location

Position is available in various locations within the region, with opportunities for floating between different facilities within a 50-mile radius.
