Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in emergency care at a freestanding emergency department located in Edinburg, TX. The unit features a compact environment, focused on delivering comprehensive emergency medical services.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 10
• Staffing:
  • 3 RNs
  • 1 Radiologic Technologist
  • 1 Physician
• Patient Ratios: 1:5
• Equipment: Fully functional Emergency Department
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Qualifications

Essential Skills: The following skills are mandatory for consideration:

• Proficiency in Meditech
• Strong triage skills and the ability to prioritize patient care efficiently
• Comfortable and proficient in managing patients of all ages

Preferred Skills: Candidates with the following skills may be given priority:

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
• Experience in Level 1 and 2 trauma center settings
• Ability to assist in obstetric deliveries in the emergency room
• Familiarity with rapid sequence intubation techniques
• Proficiency in setting up for mechanical ventilation

Typical Procedures

• Splinting
• Moderate sedation
• Chest tube insertion
• Placement of central lines
• Arterial blood gas sampling
• lumbar puncture
• Nebulizer treatments

Floating Areas

The position may require floating to the main emergency department and other nearby freestanding emergency departments.

Position requires working every other weekend.
