Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Room (ER) team. This position involves working 12-hour night shifts, with a guaranteed 36 hours per week. The candidate will have the opportunity to provide critical care in a fast-paced environment while focusing on patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe and effective nursing care to ER patients.
  • Participate in triage and patient assessment.
  • Manage care for a variety of medical emergencies, including trauma, cardiac events, and strokes.
  • Collaborate with medical personnel and support staff within the ER.
  • Utilize advanced monitoring equipment and interpret patient data.
  • Administer medications and manage IV drips as prescribed.
  • Engage in patient education and emotional support for patients and families.
  • Participate in unit orientation and training programs as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an emergency setting preferred.
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting EKGs and managing common medical drips.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment.
  • Flexibility to float to other areas as necessary based on unit needs.

Unit Information

  • Trauma Level: III
  • Average patient volume: 70 patients per day.
  • Nurse-Patient Ratios: 1:3-4 depending on acuity.
  • In-house medical team available 24/7, including MDs and mid-level providers.
  • Unit includes 18 beds (4 critical rooms) and 6 fast-track rooms.

Work Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend required.
  • Participation in holiday staffing rotation with permanent staff.
  • Orientation period of 1-3 shifts based on experience.

Additional Notes

  • Call-out occurrences are discouraged and may result in disciplinary actions.
  • RNs are not responsible for the placement of psych patients; designated screening personnel will facilitate this process.
