Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in emergency care, manage patient holds, and provide compassionate support to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department (ED).
• Manage patient holds for admission, ensuring effective communication with the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, while monitoring patient progress.
• Collaborate with physicians and mid-level providers to evaluate patient needs and plan care.
• Participate in emergency response situations, providing critical care as necessary.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in the electronic medical record system.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions and treatment plans.

Experience and Qualifications

• Current nursing license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in an emergency department setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are required.
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are advantageous.

Facility Information

• Emergency Department with a total of 33 beds, including 25 adult and 8 pediatric beds.
• Two separate triage bays; travelers are not typically assigned as triage nurses.
• In-house security present in the department.
• Typical patient volume ranges from 70 to 85 patients daily.

Work Environment

• Ratio of 1 RN to 4 patients.
• Nursing staff may consist of Nurse Aids, Paramedics, and Patient Sitters.
• The shift schedule includes day shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM, mid shifts, and night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM.
• Weekend requirements are every third weekend, along with two holiday shifts per year (one in winter and one in summer).

• Uniform dress code: Navy scrubs.
• Unit-specific orientation of 1-2 days provided before independent functioning.
