Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic emergency department setting. This position is responsible for managing patient care for both adult and pediatric populations, ensuring adherence to established protocols and delivering compassionate care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in the emergency department.
• Manage patient care holds and coordinate the admission process.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by medical staff.
• Monitor and document patient status, including vital signs and symptoms.
• Collaborate with physicians, mid-level providers, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Utilize the electronic medical record (EMR) system for documentation and care coordination.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and best nursing practices.

Work Environment

The emergency department consists of 33 total beds, including 25 adult and 8 pediatric beds, along with 2 dedicated trauma bays. Our nurses work collaboratively with physicians and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care.

Patient Demographics

The emergency department typically sees 70-85 patients per day, with a wide range of diagnoses including abdominal pain, chest pain, sepsis, and trauma-related injuries.

Staffing & Shift Requirements

• Day shift: 7am-7pm
• Mid shifts: 11am-11pm & 12pm-12am
• Night shift: 7pm-7am
• Weekend requirement: Every third weekend
• Holiday requirement: Two holidays per year, with specific rotations

Qualifications

• Current and valid Registered Nurse license.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS, PALS (ENPC & NRP are considered a bonus).
• Previous experience in an emergency department is required.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, preferably Epic.

Additional Information

All candidates must adhere to the fingernail policy prohibiting artificial nails in patient care areas. Additionally, successful completion of an open book exam during orientation is required. Candidates must also reside outside a specified radius.
