Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for providing high-quality care to patients in the Emergency Room by utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies and procedures. The position demands critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership capabilities in planning and delivering safe care to patients.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the Emergency Department.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and scientific judgment in clinical decision-making.
• Maintain clinical competencies through participation in continuing education.
• Delegate patient care priorities based on the education and experience of available staff.
• Provide direction and supervision to assigned personnel delivering patient care.
• Anticipate patient needs and ensure the safe delivery of care.
• Float to different areas as needed to support patient care activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a nursing role.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Active nursing license in the relevant state.
• Experience with Cerner EMR is preferred.
• Charge nurse experience is preferred.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification is recommended but not required.

Additional Information

This position is in a Trauma Level III Certified facility that also serves as a Stroke and STEMI receiving center. The dress code for nurses is black scrubs.
