Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department team. This position requires a strong background in emergency nursing, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department, managing a diverse range of high-acuity cases.
  • Conduct assessments, develop care plans, and implement nursing interventions based on patient needs.
  • Maintain a sterile field during procedures and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
  • Participate in required training, including SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
  • Perform dysrhythmia exams and demonstrate competency in interpreting cardiac rhythms.
  • Collaborate with medical staff, including physicians and mid-level providers, to coordinate patient care.
  • Manage emergency holds as part of a 1:4 patient assignment while maintaining effective communication with floor staff.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience required.
  • Current and valid certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (AHA only), PALS, and TNCC.
  • Experience with Cerner electronic medical records preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Shift Details

  • Shift Length: 12 hours
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
  • Holiday Requirement: Rotation covering major holidays
  • On-call Requirement: Two 12-hour on-call shifts every 4 weeks

Additional Information

The Emergency Department features 20 beds and serves an average of 105 patients per day. Staff members are expected to manage various tasks, including triage and maintaining patient safety through the use of restraints as necessary.

All nursing staff are provided opportunities for educational training on equipment and protocols specific to this department.
