Registered Nurse (RN)

General Information

Seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team in a 35-bed acute care facility located in City, State. The role will require flexibility to float between the Emergency Room (ER), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and Med/Surg units.

Unit Information

• Emergency Room (ER): 9 treatment spaces (8 beds and 1 hallway space)
• Intensive Care Unit (ICU): 4 beds
• Med/Surg: 15 beds

Patient Types

The RN will provide care for patients of all ages, including those with conditions such as sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), alcohol withdrawal (ETOH), acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), myocardial infarction (MI), trauma, and stroke.

Patient Ratios

• ED: 1:3-4
• ICU: 1:1-2 (dependent on acuity/age)
• Med/Surg: 1:5 (dependent on acuity/age)

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years in acute care Med/Surg; ED or ICU experience is accepted.
• Travelers: Must have at least 2 years of experience and reside more than 100 miles from the facility.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS are required; NIHSS and CPI certifications are preferred.
• Education: Completion of a nursing education program approved by a Board of Nursing; must hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Dakota.

Skills Required

• General experience in the Emergency Department
• Critical care experience for ICU holds
• Trauma experience
• Complex wound care and dressing changes
• Proficient in nursing assessments
• Ability to work in all care areas including ER, ICU, and Med/Surg

Support on the Unit

• IV/V team available
• Charge nurse (Hospital Coordinator)
• Resource nurse functions as charge nurse
• Respiratory Therapy support
• Hospitalist with Advanced Practice Provider (APP) coverage at night

Charting System

Experience with EPIC charting is required.

Orientation

The orientation period consists of 2 days to ensure comprehensive training.

Scheduling

• Weekend rotation: every other weekend
• Holiday expectations: every other holiday
• Time off requests can be approved up to 7 days; travelers must extend their contract by 1 week for every week of leave taken.

Dress Code

Scrub color is navy blue.
