About the Facility

This facility features 522 beds and includes:

• Level II Trauma Center
• Level III NICU
• Primary Stroke Center
• Non-teaching facility

General Information

The unit has 71 beds, serving high acuity patients, functioning as a Level I center. We welcome first-time travelers with at least 2 years of experience, including proficiency in Cerner or EPIC, and the requirement for experience in a Level II Trauma setting or higher.

• Multi System Trauma
• STEMI
• STROKE
• CHF
• COPD
• GI Conditions
• GU Conditions
• OB/GYN
• Pediatrics
• Psychiatric

Patient Ratios

• Emergency Room: 1:4
• Medical/Surgical Holds: 1:5
• ICU Holds: 1:3

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• Secure/CPI (nationally recognized/JCAHO accepted)
• NIHSS
• TNCC

Skills Required

Applicants must be skilled in the following:

• Tracheostomy care
• Ventilator management
• ICU drip care and maintenance
• Chest tube management
• Arterial line care
• Central venous line (CVL) management
• PICC and midline care
• Foley catheter insertion
• Splint/orthopedic device application and care
• Bipap/high-flow oxygen therapy
• Continuous bladder irrigation

Support on the Unit

The facility offers comprehensive support including:

• CNA (1:12 ratio)
• Receptionist/HUC available
• Charge nurse presence
• Phlebotomy services until 0300
• IV/VAT Team support
• Hospitalist team
• No telemetry monitoring technician available

Technology and Equipment

The following equipment is utilized:

• Electronic Medical Records: Cerner
• IV Pumps: Plum 360
• Medication dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Spacelabs

Orientation

New travelers will undergo a comprehensive orientation, which includes:

• 24 hours of classroom training
• 24 hours of hands-on training on the unit

Scheduling

Work schedules include:

• Weekend rotation: Every other or 4 weekend days per month if on block schedule
• Holiday requirements: One major and one minor seasonal holiday
• Shift times: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., 7 p.m. – 7 a.m., 11 a.m. – 11 p.m., and 3 p.m. – 3 a.m.
• Schedule cycle: 4 weeks
