Emergency Department Nurse

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Department Nurse to provide high-quality care for patients in a fast-paced environment. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population, including neonates, pediatrics, and geriatric patients, while managing a variety of medical and trauma cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer medications through barcode scanning, manage medication drips, and perform blood product administration.
• Conduct triage assessments and stabilize patients for transfer to higher-level care.
• Set up and assist with procedures, including chest tubes and arterial lines.
• Provide support in trauma and code situations, including splinting and utilizing bipap/ventilation methods.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of Emergency Severity Index (ESI).
• Utilize Point of Care Labs effectively.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a high-acuity, large volume emergency department setting.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC.
• Pediatric emergency medicine experience is highly preferred.
• Experience with EHR systems, specifically Epic, is required.
• Must pass the hospital’s Triage Test before performing triage duties.

Patient Care

Our emergency department is a Level III trauma center, providing care for medical and trauma patients, stroke interventions, cardiac cases, and managing behavioral health and substance use disorders. The department sees an average of 200 to 250 patients per day, with patient ratios ranging from 1:3 to 1:5 based on acuity.

Work Schedule

The position involves flexible scheduling, including a weekend rotation every other week. Available shifts include days, evenings, and nights.
