Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Care

Position Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department (ED). This facility is recognized for its commitment to providing high-quality healthcare and has received multiple accolades for safety and patient care. The ED is one of the busiest centers in the region, emphasizing teamwork and a strong community focus.

General Information

• Unit Information:
• Number of Beds: 101
• Patient Ratios: 4:1 typically; up to 7:1 for behavioral holds
• Available Staff: Technicians, unit clerks (days and nights)
• Type of Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
• Documentation System: Cerner

Scheduling Requirements

Must be available to work every other weekend. Scheduling will be based on departmental needs.

Floating Policy

Staff may be required to float to all sections of the Emergency Department, though no floating outside of the ED will occur.

Patient Experience Standards

• Utilize AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You)
• Provide respectful behavior and a positive patient experience
• Ensure all boards are updated with patient information during their visit

Certification Requirements

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – within 90 days of hire

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
• At least 1 year of experience in an Emergency Department setting
• Experience in a Level II trauma center or a comprehensive stroke center is preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and provide real-time feedback
• Flexibility to work in all areas of the Emergency Department

Dress Code

Navy scrubs are required as part of the uniform.
